1. Policy Statement
Direct Dial Communications World Wide (DDC) is committed to conducting all market and social research activities in accordance with the Australian Market & Social Research Society’s Code of Professional Behaviour (hereafter referred to as The Code), and the Privacy Act 1988 including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
We aim to uphold the highest standards of ethical practice, transparency, and participant care in every stage of our research process.
2. Purpose
This policy ensures:
- Full alignment with The Code
- Ethical and responsible treatment of research participants
- Data privacy and protection
- Credibility and reliability in research outputs
- Legal compliance across all projects
3. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All employees
- Contractors and consultants
- Fieldworkers and call centre staff
- Subcontracted research partners
- Any third party involved in data collection or processing
4. Guiding Principles
4.1 Informed Consent
- – Participation must be voluntary, with clear and plain-language explanations provided.
- – Informed consent must be documented prior to data collection.
- – Special care must be taken when involving children or vulnerable persons.
4.2 Privacy and Confidentiality
- – Personal data must be protected in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.
- – Information will be de-identified unless explicit participant consent is obtained for identification.
- – Data must not be disclosed to third parties unless legally required.
4.3 Data Collection Standards
- – Research must not involve deception, coercion, or concealment of purpose.
- – Participants will not be misled about the intent or sponsor of the research.
- – Sensitive questions will only be asked when essential and treated with respect.
4.4 Professional Integrity
- – Projects must be methodologically sound, honest, and unbiased.
- – The distinction between factual findings and interpretations must be clear.
- – Conflicts of interest must be declared and managed.
4.5 Quality and Accuracy
- – All reports must reflect accurate, unaltered results.
- – Data storage must be secure and compliant with regulatory retention policies.
- – Findings must not be used to mislead stakeholders or the public.
4.6 Participant Protection
- – Every reasonable effort must be made to avoid harm, distress, or discomfort.
- – Participants must be given the option to withdraw at any stage.
- – Support resources will be made available where sensitive topics are involved.

6. Training and Awareness
- All staff involved in research are trained on The Code and updated regularly.
- Third-party partners are required to demonstrate adherence to The Code as part of onboarding.
- Periodic internal audits will be conducted to ensure continued compliance.
7. Complaints Management
- Participants can lodge a complaint via: email info@ddcomms.com.au
- All complaints are acknowledged within 2 business days and resolved within 10 business days.
- Serious breaches will be escalated to The Research Society and appropriate regulators if necessary.
8. Breaches and Non-Compliance
Breaches of this policy may result in:
- Disciplinary action for employees
- Termination of contracts for third-party vendors
- Mandatory reporting to The Research Society and/or the OAIC (Office of the Australian Information Commissioner)
9. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if required by changes in legislation or industry standards.
